Calderdrift Scout Campsite is managed by Wakefield Scouts and is open to Scouts, Guides, Duke of Edinburgh and other Youth Groups for day or evening visits and camping throughout the year.

The campsite is on the site of the former Calder Drift open cast coal mine off Denby Dale Road, Wakefield which is now landscaped with open grass fields and woodlands.

Air Rifle Shooting take place on our purpose built range which is covered for use in bad weather. We can allow up to 4 young people to shoot at the same time.
We shoot with 0.177 Air Rifles.

Visit our 20ft Bouldering Wall we have available to practice your climbing skills and take part in some games to test your young persons skills.

Campfire Area - Free with Day Visitor/Camping Booking

Our campfire area has been specially designed with large boulders placed around the campfire circle for all your young people to be able to see.

Camping - £3.50 Per Person, Per Night

You can come to Calderdrift as a camper at any time of the week. Each camping day lasts for a 24 hour period.
Calderdrift can accept numerous Group bookings per day, so if there is already one or two in the diary you can still book.
Camping Fee: £3.50 per night.

Caravans £10 Per Night

Jubilee Venture - Overnight Booking (£100 Per 24hrs)

Jubilee Venture provides a unique accomodation avalable to hire at Calderdrift. After sailing on the canals and rivers of Yorkshire since the 1977 Queen’s Silver Jubilee when the boat was purchased by Wakefield Scouts, Jubilee Venture has now taken up a new role as accomodation at Calderdrift.

Our outdoor classroom provides a suitable space for you to be able to sit your young people down and speak to and teach them.
This area can also be used as a quite space or an area for a Scouts own.

We have a number of different activities you can have a try at from juggling to stilts, plate spinning to diablos.
