Build a miniture model solar system in a shoebox

Resources

Empty Shoe Box, A4 card sheet (to print attached stencil) or draw the planets on. Paints, felt tip pens, glue, sellotape

Instructions

Paint inside of shoe box dark blue and add white stars. Cut out and colour in all the planets (book for reference). Glue card board stem onto back of planet (make from box lid). Once all planets and sun are completed arrange in shoe box with Sun in center and planets in order positioned around the sun. Sun can be made by scruching up a piece of tissue paper and painted orange and red.

From the model of the solar system, a discussion of the differences between the sun and the planets follows.
