Ready Steady Burn
PL / APL lead cooking evening - making a 2 course meal for a patrol of 4-6 scouts (& leader) for max £10 per patrol that is suitable to prepare on 2 camp burners. Must take into account and dietary restrictions whether medical, belief or any other reasons.

Bamboo poles
Washing up bowl
Washing up liquid
Scrubber / cloths
Rubber gloves for allergies to washing up liquid - be careful around latex allergies
Access to clean drinking water (will need to negotiate & plan with cooking team to get hot water.
Container water carrier ankle to hold warm water
Team B
Access to clean drinking water
2 gas burners or trangia per patrol.
1 x large frying pan
1 x large pan with lid
1 x medium pan with lid
1 x small pan with lid
2 x mixing bowls
1 x spatula
2 x wooden spoon
1 x slotted spoon
1 x unslotted spoon
1 x ladel
1 x whisk
1 x grater
1 x vegetable peeler
1 × chefs knife
1 × bread knife
1 × vegetable knife
1 × paring knife
1 x tin opener
1 x set of chopping boards ( ideally colour coded / labelled)
Access to cling film & foil
2 x allowable extra utensils / items - agreedin advance (nothing electrical)
Plate & bowl per scout + 1 for leader plus cutlery / eating irons

Instructions
Patrol to split into 2 groups of 2+ scouts (A & B)
Prior to evening PL / APL to submit recipes for checking and that within budget of £10 per 2 courses per patrol.
Pl / APL to explain recipes to rest patrol and ensure any specific or unusual details are clear and understood. Split into teams.
Team A - build camp gadget washing up stand.
Collect a set of equipment from leaders. All same amount of twine & bamboo poles plus washing up bowl, washing up liquid / scrub / etc.
Once stand built the join cooking team.
Team B - start preparing the ingredients dividing the tasks up based on order of cooking. Prepare the dishes.
Both teams
ALL scouts help with washing up as they progress during the evening and items are required for another task.
Work area to be kept clean & tidy. Washing up must be completed by end of cooking woth exception of plates / bowls etc to eat the meal.
Patrol will have some of the food 1st with leaders coming to try.
Food critic reviews from leaders
All other scouts can come and try each others meals. Food should be clearly highlighted to those with allergies.
