Making Christmas Crackers
Beavers make their own Christmas Crackers using tissue paper and toilet roll tubes (or a quick cheat using kits from Hobbycraft!)
Tissue or crepe paper, toilet roll tube, cracker snaps (optional) string, treats and sweets
(Or cheat by ordering cracker making sets from Hobbycraft which come with snaps, rolls, hats and little gifts)
Paper for jokes?!
Cut a rectangle of tissue paper approximately 12" by 18". Alternatively we have also used crepe paper which is a little stronger, or wrapping paper off cuts / recycle from previous year.
Put a line of double sided tape down the length of the loo roll tube, and stick it down in the middle of one of the long lengths of the tissue paper.
Slip in the snap and treat if using but you don't really need this.
Get the beavers to make up a christmas joke, write it down and pop it in! If you don't have time for this, there are plenty of rubbish jokes you can download and get them to cut into small rectangles to add instead.
Roll the tube over the tissue paper so it wraps around it. Glue the end down with glue stick or a piece of sticky tape.
Twist the ends of the paper at the ends of the tube and tie a piece of wool or christmas ribbon around each end to keep in place.
