Straws / Sticks / Canes / Wooden Skewers or similar
Stick or cardboard tubes
Greaseproof paper / Bin Bag / Paper or similar material
Instructions
- Make a cross from two large Straws / Sticks / Canes / Wooden Skewers or similar (one cut slightly smaller than the other) joining them with sticky tape
- Cut a traditional kite shape from Greaseproof paper / Bin Bag / Paper or similar material to fit your kite 'skeleton' and tape it to the frame
- Attach some thin string to the centre of the cross
- Wrap the free end of the string onto a cardboard tube or a small stick as a handle
- Try outside
Explain to your section before you begin that these are really 'one off' kites that are unlikely to last! They can be used as templates for bigger and bolder versions that they can try using plastic or fabric.
