Description

A simplified melee where the young person has to try and land a blow on the chest of their opponent.

Resources

2x Chestplates (mine are steel), 2x Plastic Swords. Optional: 2x Helmets, 2x Shields.

Instructions

1) Participants put on the protective clothing. 2) Participants are reminded that they can only use sweep strokes - no jabs are allowed. 3) Participants are allowed to try and hit each other on the chest. Any blows that land above or below the chest will disqualify the participant and mean they aren't allowed to take part in later rounds.

Introduce a shield if you want to make it harder to land blows. Rather than a plastic sword and protective clothing you could use a rolled up tube of newspaper.
