Description

A Challenge in their sixes to decypher and follow the instructions on 4 different types of coding...

Resources

Pencil
Paper
Card (to make code card - see image)
Lemon juice (to write code letter - see instructions)
Printouts of attachments
Toy Car
Heat source (lighter / cooker / bulb)

Instructions

Give each six a plain piece of paper
Tell them to write the alphabet then tell them to write it backwards underneath, It should look like this

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
ZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA

Now give each six the Reverse Alphabet code to decipher (and a pencil)

ONCE THEY DECYPHER THE CODE “ FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS

** GET YOUR CODE LETTER FROM XXXXX ** < XXXX = Leaders name

The leader will pass the six the paper with your code letter is on it (the letter is in invisible ink but the cubs need to work this out).

When a cub comes to you saying they know its invisible the LEADER (x2) in the kitchen (ie out of eyesight of the others) uses the lighter/heat source to display the hidden letter (its the last letter of their six ie D-RED)

The six then is given a CODE WHEEL AND CODE WHEEL SHEET and uses the Code wheel (with leader assistance) – Set the letter A on the inside wheel to point to their code letter (eg D) and use the code wheel code sheet to decipher the next code (Coded letter on the inside wheel deciphers to the outside letter)

** YOUR CODE CARD IS IN THE KITCHEN UNDER THE SINK - B AT THE TOP **

The six must tell a leader the code before going to that area to find the code card (the cards are all the same).

They can then be given the A4 WORD SHEET and with the code card they need to find the sentence

** FIND THE TOY CAR AND GIVE IT TO A LEADER **

The toy car will have clearly been shown to the cubs earlier in the night and placed/hidden somewhere in the room.

Winner gets 25 points followed by 20, 15, 10, 5 depending on how far through the challenge they are

After this the cubs can in their six create their own codes using the code wheel for the other sixes to decypher as quickly as possible...
