Description

The kids are given a map with a bunch of missing roads, road names etc and have to explore the area to find the answers, or use local knowledge.

Resources

You'll need to grab a screenshot of your area in Google Maps, and then blank out some road names, entire roads etc. Example provided, but it'll be useless for you.

Instructions

Give the blanked maps to the patrols and let them loose!

Note: it may be worth doing something at the same time as this, like a treasure hunt, or something to keep the kids more engaged. I ran this and it lacked "something". If you have an idea, please edit this!!!

- We will be using on zoom plus 6 figure grid references, starting with short youtube grid ref tutorial
- 20-30mins activity, plus encourage them to explore their local area (between meetings) to fill in road names
- reminder stop/look/listen and/or Green Cross Code
