Star Gazing (Using telescope(s))

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

Cubs use different telescopes to look at different celestrial (or if necessary terrestrial) bodies.

Resources

Telescope, Someone with a good knowledge of the sky.

Instructions

Show the Cubs some interesting items through the telescopes.
Whilst they are waiting point out various other interesting items to them such as constellations. (Then see if they can correctly identify them.)
Talk about how certain constellations point to the Pole Star - see if they can find the Pole Star.
Talk about the differences between stars and planets.
Set them the task of researching set areas for their presentations (as Sixes) the following week. I gave each group a technology based item and a more general space item.
