Description

Make a Native American Dream Catcher

Resources

Willow
wool
Feathers/ leaves
Beads

Instructions

Bend a fresh willow stick gently into a circle that uses up about half its length. Then gradually wind the other half around the circle so that it keeps its shape.

Tie one end of a piece of wool onto the circular willow frame and then wind it across the circle randomly, every so often adding a few beads, and winding it around the frame a couple of times so that each crossing of wool stays in place. When you have quite a few criss crosses and beads tie the end of the wool off on the frame.

Take 3 shortish pieces of wool and tie to the bottom of the frame and attach either feathers or found leaves or both.

Explain the meaning and history of the dream catchers to the Beavers/ Cubs - see attached file.
