Backwoods Cooking - cake in orange
Cook a cake in an orange.
Orange, cake mix, a packet of chocolate buttons, fire!
Alternative DIY Cake Mix
For 6 cakes
110g (4oz) Self Raising Flour
110g (4oz) caster sugar
12g (0.5oz) cocoa powder
110g (4oz) unsalted butter, softened
2 medium to large eggs
A few drops of vanilla essence
2 Tbsp milk
Cut a "lid" off the orange and hollow it out.
Add a few chocolate buttons then fill about 2/3 with cake mix.
For DIY Cake Mix:
Mix all the ingredients together to a smooth and thick consistency.
Add equal amounts of cake mix to each orange.
Replace the lid, fix with cocktail stick or sharpened thin twigs, and place in embers and bury them - the cakes should be done in 10-15 minutes.
Large, thick oranges are the best - the thin skinned ones fall apart.
