Children decorate a mug using permanent markers.

Resources

Ceramic mugs, permanent markers (Sharpie pens), paper towels. Paper bags and colouring pens for wrapping.

Instructions

Get a solid color ceramic mug and some Sharpie (or permanent) markers in different colours. Have the children draw or write on the mug with the markers. If a mistake is made, a wet paper towel can help to rub it off if done quickly! Beavers can write "My Dad is..." and list words to describe their Dad, older children can write a special message of poem or draw pictures. To make the permanent marker last, put the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at Gas Mark 4 / 180 C. Mugs can be sent home in decorated paper lunch bags.
