An activity to motivate Scouts to learn about knots and lashings

Resources

1 pair of robust cable drums per patrol
rope in lengths suitable for lashings (about 3m)
wooden staves for frame
something for axles (broom handles)

Instructions

Provide each patrol with a pair of cable drums as wheels, a pair of axles and enough staves and rope to lash together a robust flinstone like car. You can use more than two wheels if you like.

It must be able to transport at least one person in a race.

1st team to complete, car endurance, style and team to win the race win prizes.
