Instructions

The week before, tell everyone that we'll be holding elections for PLs/APLs and if they want to be one then they should prepare a one minute "manifesto" explaining why they should be a PL/APL and what attributes they have that will make them be a good leader.

Then on the night, ask everyone in turn to give their little speech.

Ask each scout to write down, in order, who they'd like to be a PL/APL.

Count up all nominations - 3 points for 1st place, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. New leaders are ones with most points.


We found that the scouts picked the "correct" people and were sensible enough to ignore personality/popularity - it wasn't a popularity contest. If the "wrong" person is selected by the group, would anyone know if the leaders tweaked the results...??!!
