Quick written exercise to assess Cubs/Scouts knowledge of the equipment to be carried and clothes worn for hiking

Resources

pencils, copies of attached sheet

Instructions

Give patrols, Sixes, groups etc a copy of the sheet and give them 10 minutes to write done the clothing to be worn and equipment needed taking part in the following

- Walk along a Canal in Summer/Winter
- Hill Walking Expedition in the Lake District in Summer
- Hike up Ben Nevis in Summer/Winter
- Days hike in for example the New Forest

Once the completed get each group to report back to the rest why they have chosen the items they did
