Take part in activities which give an understanding of how to deal with peer pressure.
This will help Guides recognise that they are subject to peer pressure every day and recognise that there is both positive and negative peer pressure.
List of options prepared
There are many ways to approach this issue, here is one suggestion:
The Guides stand in a line in the middle of the hall
Explain that you are going to give them two options and they will move to the left or the right, depending on which one they select
Begin by giving the Guides easier options, for example, chocolate or ice cream, blue or red, outside or inside, summer or winter
Gradually increasethe questions toinclude social situations, e.g. bullying, drug awareness
Debrief: Did the Guides ever just move to a sign because of their friends?
Which questions were they more likely to follow their friends for, the easy or difficult ones?
Was that peer pressure?
Was it positive or negative peer pressure?
