Description
Make a small parachute using light material and string (Make A Parachute)
Resources
String (enough for 8 pieces for each parachute)
Scissors
Single hole paper punch
A plastic bag or light material for each parachute
A small object to act as the weight
Instructions
This activity will show your Guides how to make a parachute and have fun at the same time. It might be helpful if Guides work in pairs to make their parachute.
1.Cut out a large square from your plastic bag or material.
2.Trim the edges so it looks like an octagon (an eight sided shape).
3.With single hole punch make a small hole near the edge of each side.
4.Cutting a small hole in the middle of the parachute should help the parachute fall straighter.
5.Attach 8 pieces of string of the same length to each of the holes.
6.Tie the pieces of string to the object you are using as a weight.
7.Use a chair or a high spot to drop your parachute as slowly as possible and see how well it works.
