Instructions
Introduction
This is a running game to teach the Ladybirds the names of the points on a compass. The game can be played indoors or outdoors. If playing outdoors, you could put the letters on trees.
Instructions
1. Show the Ladybirds the different points on the compass and explain the basic compass directions i.e. North, South, East and West.
2. Put the 4 letters up on the walls in the hall (if allowed) or on trees if playing outdoors.
3. All Ladybirds start in the centre of the room.
4. The Leader calls out one of the directions and the Ladybirds will run to that direction e.g. Leader calls North, all Ladybirds run to the wall/tree marked North.
5. As the Ladybirds get quicker, call out two directions e.g. North and West and the Ladybirds must follow the directions in order.
Discussion
Discuss why it’s important to have a compass with you if you are going on a walk.
Show each Ladybird the compass working.
