Resources

Ham, cheese, mayonnaise, lettuce, butter, tomato, chicken slices, sliced bread
Paper plates (unless there is a chopping board for each Ladybird)
Butter
Knife
Brown paper sandwich bag or lunchbox
Labels for list of ingredients for each Ladybird

Safety note: please check in advance if any of your Ladybirds has an allergy

Instructions

Introduction
Make a healthy sandwich.

Instructions
1. Ladybirds can each make their own sandwich with any of the healthy options on offer.
2. Discuss the nutrients in each ingredient.
3. Let the girls package their sandwich in their brown paper sandwich bag or lunchbox.
4. Give each girl a label on which to list their ingredients and attach it to their packaged sandwich.

Signs for each of the choices:
Ham - protein to help you grow
Cheese – calcium for strong bones
Lettuce - Vitamin C for glowing skin
A little butter - fat to protect your kidneys, heart & liver and to give you energy
Tomato - Vitamin C for healthy skin & Vitamin A for good eyesight
A little mayonnaise - fat to protect your internal organs and give you energy
Bread - carbohydrate to give you lots of energy
