Instructions
Originally from 1st Facebook Scout Group - Unknown Author.
We gave each patrol A$11/£7 and sent them into the local supermarket.
The test was to get a item from every letter of the alphabet.
(Alphabet soup does not count)
It would only count if the first letter in the name on the the receipt
A item can not count as more then one letter.
To finish within cost each item must cost less then 41c
We gave them 1 and a half hours to get the job done.
We gave them a pen and paper to write down the letters and cost
Off they went all excited,
Most headed to the nut (pick your own section) where some picked almonds for A but then when the at register realised they came in as roasted almonds so it counted as a R
We gave extra points if they scanned them in order ( as leaders we got to have some fun) and told them to use the self serve
We banned them from the deil, as we didn't want the poor staff were hit with for a slice of ham 4 times.
Results were some letters are harder then others, all patrols missed at least two letters
And all come in or right on $11 at the end.
Things to think about,
The nuts were good, they could but a few letters each under 41c. Lots of cheap sweets start with almost every letter of the alphabet. Some of the food we kept for upcoming camps! - The rest the scouts took home.
