The Leader gives each Brownie in the team a name - Protein, Fat, Carbohydrate, Vitamin, Mineral or Water.
The Leader calls out one of the names e.g. Protein and the Brownies with that name jump up run around the circle and back to their places. The first Brownie back gets a point for her team. When the Leader calls out Balanced Diet, all teams jump up, join hands and each Brownie must balance on one leg. The first team, all standing on one leg and holding hands get a point.
Method Two: All the Brownies sit in a circle on chairs
The Leader gives each Brownie a nutrients name, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrate, Vitamin, Mineral or Water. Leader removes one chair this Brownie goes into the centre of the circle. Leader calls out one of the nutrients: each Brownie with that name stands up and changes places with the other Brownies. The Brownie in the centre tries to gain a chair to sit on. The Brownies without a chair to sit on goes into the centre. When the Leader calls out Balanced Diet all Brownies must change chairs.
Discussion: At the end of the game ask the Brownies if they know what the names mean. Explain that each of the names is a nutrient that is found in food. Nutrients help us grow and help us to stay healthy, and all of the nutrients together make up a Balanced Diet.
