Recipe
Makes 4 pancakes (for cubs or beavers)
Or, two large pancakes (scouts & adults)

You will need:
Stove
Matches
Frying pan
Mixing bowl
Cup
Fork
Spatula
Ladle
Tablespoon
Teaspoon
Plate

Ingredients:
1 Cup plain flour

1 rounded teaspoon (tsp) of baking powder

½ level tsp salt

2 rounded tablespoons (tbsp) of caster sugar

130ml milk

1 large egg, lightly beaten

2 tbsp melted butter.

Method
1. Put the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into a bowl.
2. Whisk the egg and the melted butter into the milk.
3. Combine the wet and the dry mixtures and beat until smooth and all the lumps are gone. This is now a BATTER.
4. The batter should be very thick.
5. Turn on the stove to medium heat. Too high and the pancake will burn.
6. Put the pan on the stove. Add a tbsp of melted butter to the pan.
7. Add a quarter of the batter (cubs) or half the batter (scouts) to the pan using the ladle and fry until brown on the cooked side (about 1 min or so).
8. Bubbles should appear all over the uncooked side due to the baking powder releasing CO2..
9. Turn the pancake over using a spatula (or toss) and brown the other side. Cook until the middle is firm to the touch. DO NOT SQUISH THE PANCAKE DOWN.
10. Pancake should be big and fluffy and the inside should be firm and not runny.
11. Put onto a plate.
12. Add toppings and eat.
13. Repeat
