A circle game where you need to have fast reactions and be quick on your feet.

Resources

A broom shank ('pioneering pole') per person.

Instructions

All participants stand in a circle and hold a broomshank with one hand. The flat end of the broomshank must be touching the floor. They place their other hand behind their back.
A leader calls out 'left' or 'right'.
The aim of the game is to grab the broomshank of the person to the left or right of you before it hits the floor. If the broomshank that you should be going for hits the floor, you are out.

Variations to increase difficulty:
-Reverse directions, so that 'left' means go right, and 'right' means go left.
-Increase the speed of the instructions
