Aim: To show how a good man lived. Taken from the BB Juniors Pro Pack S-21
Video – cartoon of Noah and the Ark
God was very worried about the number of wicked people there were on the earth and he decided that he would start afresh with a man named Noah and he would get rid of everything else – animals, men and creatures would be wiped from the face of the earth.
However, Noah had found favour with God. He was a good and righteous man and he loved God. Noah had 3 sons named Shem, Ham and Japheth
God said to Noah ‘ I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is full of violence and wickedness’
“I want you to build an ark of cypress wood, make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it. The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. Make a roof for it to keep out the rain. Put a door in the side of the ark and make a lower, middle and upper deck.
When you have finished the ark I am going to bring flood waters on the earth which will destroy everything except you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.
You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every animal or creature that moves along the ground. You are also to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away for you and your family.”
Noah did everything the Lord asked him and floods lasted for forty nights and days before Noah and his sons and family could come out and rejoice because they were still alive.
As an additional activity, the boys could make a model ark from cardboard boxes with animals from card.
A number of children’s songbooks have the words and music for, ‘The Arky Arky Song’, this can be great fun especially when done with the actions. It also makes a good item for a parents’ and friends’ night. The words can also be found on the Internet on several sites including:
