In 2017, WAGGGS would like to grow the World Thinking Day celebrations, and invite more girls to experience what it means to be part of the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement!

This year’s WAGGGS theme is ‘GROW’ and is about growing in confidence, collaboration, friendship, and growing plants to symbolise this.

During this "Special Focus meeting" Ladybirds will be planting the “seeds of change” during the meeting

The idea is to collect the seeds to "plant a tree" by completing four sections the Roots, the Trunk, the Branches and the Flowers and Fruits.
Ladybird Branch have outlined below some ideas to help you on your way to find the seeds.

Ladybird Branch also think it would be a good idea to have a “Bring a Friend” night to introduce new members to the Irish Girl Guides

Instructions

Prior to the meeting make a big tree out of paper and stick it on the wall in your hall.

Part One Roots

Tell the story of how the Girl Guides began. The story of Lord and Lady Baden Powell and how the Girl Guides were set up can be found in the.
Ladybird Journey Planner book on page 47 or Journey Programme Link: Compulsory challenge number 5 in the Grow section.
At the end of the story put the pictures of Lord and Lady Baden Powell on the bottom of your tree as they are roots of the Girl Guides. (See attached file)

Part Two Trunk

IGG Interest Badge Ladybird World Guiding Option 04 (See attached file)
Follow the instruction to complete the uniforms from around the world, when completed place on the trunk of the tree.

Part Three Branches

Grow your Communication and Grow your Collaboration

The WAGGGS Grow Pack have listed other suitable activities.


Part Four Flowers and Fruits
a) You could get the girls to paint or draw their hand prints and you can place them as your flowers on the top of the tree.
b) If you have land at your Guide hall you can plant a tree once the pack is complete.
c) another alternative, is plant different flowers.
