Instructions

Attach a climbing rope to a secure point about 4m high. Demonstrate how to tie a prusik knot and how to slide it up and down the rope. Demonstrate how the prusik knot does not slip when there is weight put on it. Demonstrate the safe and correct use of a harness and helmet. Using two loops of rope get the scouts to climb and descend the static rope using the prusik knots. N.B. you must use qualified climbing instructors for this - see P.O.R rule 9.34.
