Edible Constellations

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

Learn to identify some of the major constellations by making edible versions of them

Resources

Marshmallows
chocolate fingers / matchmakers
print outs of PDF's of constellations

Instructions

Split the cubs into groups and give them copies of the constellation maps (see PDF's) of named constellations to make models, using marshmallows as the "stars" and chocolate fingers or matchmakers to make the constellations: test them on the unlabelled versions of the constellations at the end of the session and if possible, take them outside to see if they can identify any of them in the sky

Stars and lines in black are those that are most obvious: grey are part of the constellations but often not visible unless skies are very clear and light pollution low!

nb. These are the main winter constellations for the Northern hemisphere
