Badge requirements to complete stage 1 of the Air Activities badge.

Resources

Plasticine/playdoh, paper, Top Trumps.

Instructions

1. Make a paper airplane and fly outside, measuring which goes furthest. Talk about why it might have gone further and make a second plane (or adjustments to first) and re-try.
2. Play aircraft 'Top Trumps', encourage Beavers to talk about why theirs is better and what they have learned (either passenger planes or military planes).
3. In lodges, facilitate discussion about flying, allow Beavers to tell each other and ask questions.
4. Make an aircraft out of plasticine/playdoh and show to others in your lodge.
5. Talk about the phonetic alphabet and help the Beavers to spell their name - if there's time, they could create their own versions of the phonetic alphabet.
