Added by the GGNZ Programme Team
Suitable for GGNZ Virtual Group Guiding - adaption could be leader does the experiment and girls watch rather than each girl doing it from home
Resources
Equipment • a vase or other container filled with water • food colouring • a pale coloured flower (preferably white)
Instructions
Place a good deal of the food colouring into the vase of water. Now place your pale coloured flower into the water.
Leave it for a good while and then examine the flower to see what has happened. You’ll find that the flower is changing colour! It will be absorbing the food colouring. Depending on your choice of flower, you may be able to see the water travelling through the veins of the petals.
Try splitting the stem and having two different colours of water. Does your flower turn both colours?
