Carry out the oil spill project (Oil Spill Project)

Resources

• Basin/tinfoil roasting tin/container
• Newspaper to protect surfaces
• Oil (a few tea spoons) in container per Patrol
• Optional: feathers or furry balls to symbolize animals, food dye to symbolize chemical pollutants
• Skimming materials: straws/lollipop sticks/plastic strips/spoon/cotton tips
• Soaking materials: cotton wool, paper towels in very small squares (mimic real-life spill), cereal, corn cobs, sponges cut into small squares, fur,
filter paper
• Booms: rolled up strips of cotton/paper, cardboard strips, newspaper
• Dispersant: washing up liquid/liquid soap
• Vocabulary list (See attached file)
