Instructions

Introduction
All creatures that line in hot and sunny environments have different natural defences and habits that help protect them from the sun
Animal Instinct Relay Game
Preparations
Print a copy of the Animal worksheet/pictures/names.
Mark back of each set to make it easier to sort.
Cut out the animal pictures and names
Instructions
 Remind the Brownies of the five S’s of Sun Safety: Slip, Slop, Slap, Slide, Shade
1. Slip on a T-shirt that will keep shoulders covered as they can easily burn
2. Slop on sunscreen (minimum SPF 30, with high/broad spectrum UVA protection)
3. Slap on a broad brimmed hat to shade your face neck and ears
4. Slide on sunglasses to protect your eyes
5. Shade from the sun when possible, particularly between 11am-3pm
To Play
 Divide Unit into teams, ideally their Sixes and line up at one end of the hall
 Place the pictures and name cards at another end of hall
 One Brownie at a time from each Six runs and collects a picture or name card
 Once all the cards have been collected Sixer runs and collects Animal worksheet from a Leader
 Six complete the left-hand side of the worksheet using the animal and picture cards
Debrief/Discussion
Bring the Unit together and check their answers
Using the right-hand side of the worksheet Leader reads out the questions and encourages the Brownies to share their answers
