Instructions

Print the Wordsearch - the words are listed and are all written forwards or from top to bottom (no backwards words)

Print the Hazards Worksheet and help identify the potential hazards. We found 11, but some of our children found many more!

We split our colony up into groups and had some working on the worksheets while the Beavers were taken 2 at a time into the VERY HAZARDOUS Kitchen. The hazards were on the counters and the floor and we put a sign on the door 'DANGER - ENTER UNDER CLOSER SUPERVISION ONLY' and at Beaver eye-height 'DANGER - HAZARDS'.

We displayed: Candle, lighter, matches, pan with handle sticking out, tea towel hanging out of a cupboard, bleach, laundry tablets, pills, skipping rope on the floor, ball on the floor, toaster with plug near the sink, grater, sharp knives, kettle, hair straighteners, superglue.

The Beavers had a great time spotting the hazards, and we ensured we had one leader for each Beaver in this environment to keep them safe.
