Design and Build a Robot - See What I Can Do activity 7
Added by the GGNZ Programme Team
Suitable for GGNZ Virtual Group Guiding
Resources
Pen and paper for design stage
Recycled items suitable for building robots - boxes, tinfoil, pipes and hoses, lids etc, tape, staplers, string, scissors
Instructions
The important thing with this activity is the two steps - design and build.
Give members pen and paper first to design - by writing or drawing - their robot. Maybe ask some questions?
- what will the robot do? How will it move? Will it make noise? How big will it be?
Then let members build their robot using the recycled items available. Some may need help getting their design and creation to come together.
Does the design match the finished item?
Consider dividing into smaller groups and giving suggestions of the robot they could design and build eg; a robot to walk a dog, a robot that can make the bed every morning, a robot to present Pippin badges
