Description
Use Playdough in primary colours to show what happens when colours are mixed together.
Contributed by the GGNZ Programme Team
Resources
Home made playdough with no colouring
extra flour
yellow, red and blue food colouring
Instructions
Make the plain dough (with the girls if you have time)
Give each girl a portion of dough.
Add yellow to every third girls dough, red to every third ball of dough and blue to the remaining dough - so each girl has one primary colour added to her dough. Get the children to work the colour into their dough - this will take some time (especially if their dough is cold)
Once the colours are worked in, get each girl to break her dough into three pieces, one to keep to show the original colour and one to offer to each of her neighbours (who in turn share their dough with her)
Everyone now works 2 colours of dough together....what colour do they think they will get? What colours did they start with? What colour is it now? Is it the same as her neighbours colour? What happens when you mix them all together.
