Description
Fast tag game using blindfolds to encourage verbal communication skills - including giving directions and listening, and help promote disability awareness
Resources
Blindfolds
Soft ball or cushion
Instructions
Pair up the group - one of each pair is blindfolded (the player), one isn't (the communicator).
Set up a 'play area' - this can be all or part of a hall, or a designated area outdoors.
Check for any obstacles within the play area.
Communicators stand on outside edge of play area, players stand inside play area, blindfolds on. A soft ball is put in the middle of the play area. Communicators direct the players to pick up and throw (and avoid) the ball. If a ball hits a player, they are out. Last person standing wins. To make more difficult add in extra balls.
Swap over the two roles.
Can end the game with a review on what it felt like playing not being able to see; clarity of instructions; how difficult it is to give directions to another person etc.
