Instructions
The hall is divided into areas and there are actions to go with the phases and terminology.
The floor is the moon, the caller is standing at the equivalent of the North Pole on the moon.
Players spread out and face the caller. Make sure everybody knows which is their right hand - the floor is arranged for the players left and right and NOT the caller. This is so the children learn that the right hand side of the moon as seen from Earth is where it grows (waxes) from, so even if they cannot get their head around the correct terminology they should be able to tell the difference between a newer moon and an older moon!
The actions call for children to group themselves, the numbers are just suggestions. Pick whatever works for you. Have a few run throughs before you start eliminating players so they get the hang of the actions. When ready call out a term or phase and the children rush to complete the required actions, last person to complete is eliminated.
The advanced actions (purple) will be challenging for Cubs but should be achievable for Scouts.
