Description

Team game to get as many coloured balls back to your own team's base as you can

Resources

Coloured ball pool balls (or similar)
baskets, or markers for each team's base

Instructions

Split the group into team (sixes/patrols or similar), but have a small number of 'defenders' (ideally 1 per team playing) these can be leaders/young leaders.

Have a large number of coloured balls in the middle of the playing area. Each team will have a base at the edge of the playing area, if you have 2 teams then these should be opposite each other (with the balls in between them), if you have 4 teams these can be in 4 separate corners etc.

The idea of the game is that teams get as many of the balls back to their base (basket or marked area), but they can only 'carry' one ball at a time and there is a different rule for carrying each coloured ball (as shown on the attached sheet, or make your own ones up!).

If you are tagged by a 'defender' when you are 'carrying' a ball then you must leave the ball where it is and go to the opposite base (or another agreed point) before then starting again.

Anybody can pick up a ball that is in open play, but you cannot snatch a ball off of somebody else. Once a ball has reached a base (basket or marked area) then it is safe and cannot be taken by another team.

The game ends when all balls are back at the bases.

To add a chance element, you can add a scoring system that different coloured balls are worth different points (and you can either let the members know these points in advance, or only announce the points for each ball once the game has finished.)
