1. In their Sixes Brownies make a basic paper aeroplane (see overleaf) (If Brownies know how to make different examples of paper aeroplanes, they should be encouraged to make them)
2. Set a starting point and encourage Brownies to take turns flying their aeroplanes.
3. See which ones go higher and further
4. Next give each Six a box containing the following items.
Small amount of blu tac/play dough
20-30 paper clips
Selection of card and cardboard from cereal boxes
5. Using the supplies the Brownies make adjustments to their aeroplanes adding blu tac/play dough to the front/middle or rear of aeroplane
6. See what difference this makes to how high and far the plane can fly?
7. The same can be done using paper clips. The Brownies can also make paper planes using card and the cardboard.
8. Finally the Unit can hold a competition to see who can fly their planes the farthest and the highest
A runway can be made with masking tape or with chalk outdoors or a targets practice can be hung in a doorway. See pictures overleaf for ideas
