Scouts Programme Ideas
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
This is a list of all program ideas that we have had as a troop over the last 10 years. It is meant to help you with planning your programme as a starting point. Coming up with ideas can be difficult and this should help. However, in terms of executing these ideas you will have to think for yourself how best to approach each and what will work for you and your section.

Backwoods cooking
Cooking something on fire it's the basic idea. One thing that works quite well it's 2 simply top up a load of simple ingredients such as potatoes bacon onions and to wrap them in aluminium foil.
Badges evening
Of course, scouts collect badges all the time. This evening could be done as a One Stop Shop to Acquire certain badges. The way we do it is to run an evening where each leader takes a badge they are interested in such as the Mechanics badge and teaches that specific one for any takers.
Big quiz of the year
Bike maintenance
Boomerang
Bridge Building
We go to a nearby river to run this activity. There are a few ways to make a bridge. One simple way is to make an “A-frame walker”.
Camp Gadgets
Cardboard Canoes
Actually works quite well. We usually ran this as a two-part evening. The first evening would be making. You don't need to overthink the design! A Cardboard box with the seams covered in duct tape will work. The second evening would be using/testing the canoes at a local lake or pool.
Catapults
Chinese New Year
The last time we did this, we split the evening into three parts. Firstly Sky lantern making. I would advise not letting them get too far away if they actually work as they cause havoc on the environment. Secondly Chinese food tasting. Go to a local Chinese shop and acquire some strange foods for them to try (the stranger the better, Baby octopus, chickens feet durian fruit that sort of thing). Finally, some fireworks to finish off the evening.
Climbing (Permit needed)
Code breaking, puzzles and riddles
Cookie ovens
Crystal Maze
I believe this used to be an old TV show. Basically, the idea is that there are a load of small challenges based on different categories. Which are Skill, Mystery, Mental and Physical. Some of these can be against leaders. They can go round as a patrol attempting challenges. If they succeed at a challenge (meaning they should be able to fail) they acquire a “crystal” (coloured woggle). The patrol with the most gets a head start for a final game at the end. This will stop patrols giving up if they can't do any challenges.
Cycling
DIY musical instruments
Dutch arrows
Escape From Colditz
Blindfold the Scouts in an area of your hut. Scouts must complete a series of challenges In a set path around your hut or outdoor area to get to a final evacuation point.
Escape room
Similar to escape from Colditz. But more in the line of riddles and puzzles to get out of the room instead of the whole building.
Espionage
Film night
Filmmaking
Fire-lighting
First aid
Fishing
Games evening
Gladiators
Guide dog
I'm a scout get me out of here

Pimp my snack
Attempted to make giant versions of popular chocolate bars or sweets. Be aware that some ingredients take time to set.

Raft Building
Rube Goldberg Machine
Sailing
Scavenger hunt
Sudan Chair
Survival Skills
Swimming
Tie-dyeing
Tough Mudder
Obstacle course designed to test the toughest scout. Set up takes a long time but does not take much time to run so competition style execution would work best I think.
Trading Post
Trebuchet
Water fight with water pistols
Water rockets
