Instructions

For Egg Floaters - put the egg into the water and watch it sink, ask cubs why it sinks and explains about density (if they don't know), explores how we could make the water 'heavier' than the egg so that the egg floats. after they have come up with ideas introduce the salt and sugar. Split group into two, one with salt and one with sugar, get cubs to guess how many spoons full of their substance they will need to make the egg float and each adds spoon full one at a time until the egg floats. Get cubs to record how many spoon fulls they needed. Bring both groups back together and compare how many spoons full of salt and how many sugars were required and see if they can work out which one is heavier - salt or sugar. (More info and record sheet attached below)

Chocolate Easter Basket -Heat the water to a boil over heat. Let the Cubs break up the chocolate into small little bits then place them in the bowl. Place the bowl on top of the pan and get a cup/leader to keep stirring it until it is melted! Once the chocolate is melted, take it off the heat then pour the Corn Flakes into the bowl of chocolate and mix, mix, mix. Once the chocolate and corn flakes are mixed together well, take a tea spoon and get your cubs to take a spoon full and spoon it into the cupcake cases. Once you have split the batch evenly and all the cubs have there very own “Easter Chocolate Nest” add two mini eggs on the top and leave to cool. 150g chocolate, 100g cornflakes make 10

Easter Egg Hunt – Download the file below and print them out. Once you have cut out the slips place them into little openable plastic eggs and place them around your hut in the right places. Tell your cubs, “You have to work as a team and find all of the eggs hidden around the hut within in 15minuets!” Time how long it takes for each group to complete the Easter egg hunt. The winning team will get a small prize and 20 points towards there six. Make sure you tell the cubs to leave the eggs and slips where they found them.

The Easter Show – Download the file below and read the Easter Story out to your cub unit. Next tell them that they need to work as a team to act out the Easter Story then perform it in front of the Leader/Young Leaders.
