Instructions

Before beginning the task, it may be worth setting ground rules for discussions so that everyone respects each others views, don't talk over people etc.

Task 1.
Split the class up in to small gender-based groups (groups of girls and groups of boys) Each group should consider the benefits of being the opposite gender to what they are and write them down, followed by the perceived disadvantages of being the opposite gender, writing those down too.

Task 2.
Combine the groups so that they are now made up of mixed genders and ask each group to discuss their thoughts/ ideas and whether they are well-founded / accurate.

Task 4.
Use the following questions to start a group discussion:
- Which fact was the most shocking to you, and why?
- Which facts didn’t shock you, and why?
- How many of the things in the video are in line with your earlier
thoughts and discussions?
- As young people heading into the world of work in the future,
what can you do to help change things?

Task 5.
What can we do at Scouts to change this?
