Night of Nothing

Description

A cub said at a pack forum that they wanted to do "nothing" at cubs one week. So we came up with some activities based around the theme of "nothing".

Resources

1) Cardboard box (cereal packet sized) per team, along with a selection of items to help destroy it.
2) Powerful torch
3) 2x bucket of water, a very small spoon, a series of obstacles
5) quote pairs cards (attached)
6) a watch/clock

Instructions

1) Teams have a set amount of time to make their cardboard box "nothing". At the end of the time, a leader who hasn't been observing will judge the most successful team.
2) Shadow finger puppets
3) Obstacle relay race with water; set a time limit for each run to increase water spilt/nothing in end bucket
4) Invisible battlefields - a series of invisible obstacles that cubs should pass (e.g. barbed wire fence to step over, bottomless pit filled with shark-eating custard to jump over).
5) Quote pairs - match the quote about nothing to the person who wrote/said it. (very difficult, the idea being that sometimes nothing is all you can expect!)
6) Guess a minute - without looking at any time devices, cubs should indicate when they think a minute has passed.
