Description
2 Equal teams of scouts compete to take home the right bacon
Resources
-one "true bacon" / green card or similar
-one "fake bacon" / red card or similar
two parallel lines to act as boundaries, tape, rope or sportshall markings will do, as long as they are visible
Instructions
Play
Line up two teams facing each other, with two bits of "bacon" in the middle, one for true, and another for false. Split the scouts into two teams, each team member is numbered , so that they form a pair with someone from the other team.
Once a true/false question is asked, the two people with matching numbers from each team will race forward and try to bring the correct bacon back to their team. if they pick up the correct bacon and bring it back to their team before being tagged they earn two points, however, if they bring the wrong question back to their team they lose two points instead. If their opponent chases them and tags them before they can get back to their team they gain one point for tagging the player holding the correct bacon, if the player they tag is holding the incorrect bacon they instead lose a point.
If both teams each pick a different bacon, the team who retrieved the correct bacon gains two points, while the team who got the wrong bacon loses two points.
Scoring
The team with the most points at the end wins.
Tips / Suggestions
-you can use a quiz about scouting or the subject of a badge to teach the players about a subject and tie in further badge links E.g. the quiz from the international badge resources about the history of scouting.
-If the wrong member of a team runs out of turn or two from the same team run at once you could dock a point from the offending team or ask them to do a silly forfeit before resuming, like doing a dance from this fork-knife game I keep hearing about, patting their head whilst rubbing their belly or telling a joke
