Description
Two teams number off and compete for points.... suitable for all ages, including parents!
Resources
Two chairs, one for each team.
Two similar soft balls.
A plastic 2 litre bottle, weighed down with some water
Chalk to mark positions of the chairs and bottle on the floor is a good idea.
Instructions
Divide the unit into two teams. Try to evenly match them.
Each team numbers off and lines up facing each other. It may be a good idea to get them to keep a hand on the wall, or you can use the chalk to mark a 'stay-behind-this-line' so that teams don't crowd the fielders and players on the chairs.
Appoint a fielder (and a substitute fielder to allow everyone to have a turn ) from each team. You can always pause the game to appoint new fielders during the game.
Place the bottle in the centre of the hall midway between the two teams. Put the two chairs at equal distances from the bottle with a ball on each seat.
Call a number. The team members with that number must sit on their team chair and knock the bottle over by throwing the ball. The fielders return the team ball to the selected player until one of them scores by knocking over the ball. They must be sitting on their chair to score a point.
Continue the game for an agreed time or until a particular score has been reached.
