chalk phone number
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Beavers learn own phone number by "jumping it" on a chalk-drawn phone pad on the floor.
Resources
Card for each beaver with phone number on
Chalk
(Draw out several chalk phone pads in advance, eg one per lodge.)
Instructions
Explain to beavers that it's important they know the phone number of a parent / guardian. For example, if they get lost (and need to ask another adult to contact the parent / guardian) or if there is an emergency and they are making a 999 call and they are asked for it by the operator.
Give each beaver a card with a relevant phone number on, probably a mobile one.
In lodges (or pairs), ask them to jump their phone number on a chalk-drawn key pad on the floor.
Once they have done this a few times, get someone else to test them on it. For example, lodge leader (or other member of pair) takes card and beaver has to jump the number from memory, with help if stuck.
