Description

Go on a shopping scavenger hunt. You have 30 minutes to find the cheapest, average and most expensive ingredients to make a nutritious dinner.

(Variation on Shopping Scavenger Hunt in Money Sense Badge when you don't have access to a shopping centre that's open on your Guide night).

Instructions

Visit a supermarket.
Before starting the activity, discuss what makes a nutritious meal.
Divide into groups (patrols) and set the challenge - 30 minutes to find the cheapest, average and most expensive ingredients to make a nutritious dinner. Get them to record on the worksheet and work out the costs.
Meet at the end to compare.
What extras did you get if you paid more? Who would be happy to eat which meal?

Remind girls to be aware of other shoppers prior to starting. Also no running.
