Introduction:
Muslims around the world observe Ramadan every year. During the month of Ramadan, people fast from eating and drinking between sunrise and sunset.
A crescent moon is a special symbol in the Islamic religion as they follow a lunar calendar. The sighting of the crescent moon marks the beginning of a new month. This is especially significant at the end of the holy month of Ramadan, when the sighting of the crescent moon marks the end of the fasting period and the end of Ramadan.
Instructions
1. Each Brownie is to be given one template.
2. Using your choice of colouring pencils/crayons, allow the Brownies to decorate the moon and star shapes.
3. When they have coloured them in they then have to cut them out.
4. The shapes can be glued/sellotaped onto the string or, alternatively, a hole can be punched in the top and bottom of each shape and the string threaded through the holes.
