Instructions

Aim of Badge
To learn about the European Union, who represents us and different cultures.

This Badge has 4 options of which 4 must be completed

Introduction
This activity will show how across the European Union we have different languages – we are all different and all equal.

Instructions
Start in a Pow Wow and ask the Brownies how they say hallo? Do they say something different to their teacher, leader, neighbour, friends and pets?

On the sheet overleaf, you can see how to say Hello in different European Union languages. Ask the Brownies if they know how to say hello in a different language. Have fun saying hello in a few different languages. How do the Brownies feel? We can do things in different ways but it doesn’t change the meaning of hello.

Game
To develop an awareness that being different can be a good thing. This activity will teach your Brownies that not everyone is the same and that difference and uniqueness is a good and essential part of life. This activity can be run as a traditional relay race or alternatively the Leader can call out the name of different animals and the Brownies run when their animal name is called.
• The Brownies should be divided into groups/Sixes of 5 for a relay race
• First person in each group/Six is a Cheetah (Run)
• Second person is a Zebra (Skip)
• Third person is a Kangaroo (Jump)
• Fourth person is a Penguin (Shuffle)
• Fifth person is a Snake (Wriggle)
