Description
Making french Bread Pizzas, for elements of cook and international badges, or just for fun.
Resources
French Bread - about 3" per child.
Tomato Puree or reduced pasata - enough for about 1 tablespoon per child
Grated cheese - enough for about that much (TBC!) per child
Tin Foil
Oven
NB other toppings can be added if funds, time, dietary requirements etc allow, but this does not seem to add to the fun at all when we do it!
Instructions
Make sure the oven is on about 150c to preheat
Give each child a large piece of tin foil, which they should roll the edges of to form a dish/plate, and write their name clearly on it, using permanent marker - on the OUTSIDE!
Give each child their piece of french bread - either a 3" slice, or 6" but cut length ways in 2 - to place in their foil "Bowl"
If giving a complete slice, get them to cut/rip the bread open.
Get them to squish the bread down flat
Let each child spoon/spread tomato topping, then add a suitable amount of grated cheese.
Place all "bowls" on a large baking tray.
Bake in preheated oven until cheese is melted (Adult supervision / help /adults to do, depending on hut arrangements etc)
Let cool a bit, and either tuck in, or send home for later!
