large sheet of paper per group/patrol.
Instructions
On a large sheet of paper, get the Guides to draw the trunk of a tree.
Ask them to write the name of the community they are thinking about.
Then get them to think of the different parts of the community.
eg: for children, school, activity groups, play ground, sports, church, etc (green leaf)
For teenagers, youth club, school, sports, church, (orange leaf)
adults/parents, play ground, schools, choirs, sports, drama, volunteering (red leaf)
older people: active retired, pitch and putt, volunteering. (purple leaf)
For each part of the community, ie school, youth club, pitch and putt, draw a branch.
On each branch, add a coloured leaf to represent which part of the community participates.
For example: rugby club you could add a green, orange, red and purple leaf. to make it more accurate, if only girls/women take part, out line the leaf in pink, if only boys, outline it in blue. if both, out line one side in blue and the other in pink.
if you think it's suitable for people with a disability, add another outline in yellow.
This will help you see how different people can participate in the community.
